What even IS Digital Marketing? What does it include?

Well, in simple terms, it’s any marketing activity that uses electronic media to promote its messages. So that includes email, websites, Google, Social Media (Facebook, Instagram, Youtube etc) and even text messages.

You are probably using at least one of those marketing channels already…so you are already started in Digital Marketing – well done!

So what now?

Well first we recommend you analyse what you are doing, so make a list of all the places you can be found “electronically”. The easiest way to achieve this is to do a Google search for business name. Thats how customers will find you, so the first 10 results are what most people will see.

Then add to that list any other electronic communication you do (eg email newsletters, automatic email confirmations for sales orders, text message campaigns, social media accounts).

Now think about your ideal customer – where do THEY hang out online? If you are selling to older people you probably will focus on Facebook over TikTok, but if your target market is under 18s then a TikTok account is a must! Make a list of your ideal customers likely behaviour, how do you think they interact with the online world.
