& Binding
1. Key terms to understand
Before you place your order, it’s important to understand some key terms related to printing and binding. These include:
Gloss or Matt Laminate
Laminate is a thin layer of plastic applied to your printed materials to protect them from damage. Glossy lamination offers a shinier appearance, while matte lamination provides a more subdued effect.
CMYK
RGB, CMYK, and Hex or web colors are different color models used for various purposes. RGB is used for digital screens, while CMYK is used in the printing industry. Hex or web colors are used for web design and coding. When creating artwork for print, it’s important to use CMYK color mode to ensure accurate representation of colors on your printed materials.
Bleed
This refers to an extra amount of design or image content that extends beyond the cut edges of your printed materials. Printing with bleed ensures your design goes all the way to the edge of the paper.
Trim Marks
These are lines printed on the edge of your design, indicating where to cut the paper. It helps ensure that your design aligns perfectly with the finished product.
